So gas prices are finally getting back down to normal, normal for 4 years ago that is. Here in Nashville the prices are finally at about $2.04. Surprising as in Kansas City they have been reported as low as $1.71 a gal. Used to be the prices here in Middle Tennessee were a few cents lower than what we were used to back in good old KC.
Unemployment rates are still high, and I just heard today that Circuit City is closing a bunch of stores. Supposedly they are closing 155 stores nationally. Is a REAL recession coming? We (the domocrats and smarter people) won the election. Obama has not taken office yet, but isn't the old saying that things usually get bad near the election and then get better?
We are launching our loan product at work next week and anticipate RECORD applicants. Ya know why, cause no one has any money. They are desperate. The holidays are coming and everyone still seems to be watching every dollar they spend.
Now I hear they (our trusty government) are working on another stimulus package to boost the economy. Ummm... hello, didn't we try that already? How is sending people another check for a few hundred bucks going to bring back 1.2 million of the jobs lost this year alone? How is this check going to ensure no more retail chains have to close more of their stores? Most people I knew didn't go out and buy a new TV with their last check; they bought gas or food at the local, you guessed it, "WAL-MART." So that is one giant that doesn't seem to be struggling, but that is for another posting.
I'm just so confused right now. With all the credit crisis, the housing crisis, the unemployment crisis... where do we go from here? I find myself very lucky to have a good job and making good money right now. I'm single, have very few bills and get by day to day with no problems. What about the other 90% of the country though?
Scary, is a REAL Recession on its way? Is it already here???

Many Bottles of Wine Later
So once again the post time-frame seems to be a pretty wide-open time frame. My sister emailed me last night giving me a link to her very own Blog that she has started, so I figured I should probably get back into writing on this thing.
A quick update from the last posting in April... so Tax Season was officially over, but has started to get going again. Things have been extremely busy at work, but I guess I cannot complain too much as if it was not busy I would be complaining about that.
Dude, the dog from my last post is no longer with Millie and I. I had to give him up due to some barking issues and the management here at my apartment. He has a good home now so that is good for 'Dude'.
I had a chance to go to Hawaii a few months ago for a whole week, and I must say, if you ever get the chance, do it! One of the most beautiful places I have been yet.
As a side note, my buddy Doug told me about this great site called Pandora several years ago. I have once again found it, and I cannot get enough of it. Basically it is a streaming music site, but you build your auto-playlists (or they call them Stations) based on a song or a band that you like. The site then customises stations based on your preferences. You should check it out at www.pandora.com.
I'm happy to report that I will be home for the Thanksgiving holiday, just not sure the days yet. Other than that, I think this is enough of a read for now... going to try to keep this thing updated at least 1 time a month.
Happy Blogging All!

1 post a year???
So it has been almost a year since my last post. Guess I got busy? So things are good here in TN. Tax Season '08 is finally over. Who knows what this summer will bring. Applied for a job at KU Med back in KC, will know if I get an interview here in the next week or so. Thought it might be about time to put the old resume out there again. Not that I'm not happy here, but ready to get back home. No place like home they say.
Have a new addition to the family. His name is Dude, and he is a cutie. I hosted a Bar-B-Q for my associates about 2 weeks ago at the office and Dude was hanging around. Of course he would not leave since we kept feeding him. He had a flea collar on but no other identifying tags. I wasn't about to call animal control as the shelters here in Nashville are overloaded as it is.

So took him to the vet and had him checked out and what not. He is in good shape although we still don't know how old he is. The vet is guessing he is anywhere from 4-6 years old. Millie has finally took a liking to him, although she still makes it clear whose house this is. ;-) Stubborn old bitch. ;-)
I have plans to come home to KC for some vacation time this May. Can't wait, who knows, maybe will be my trip home for an interview. Keep the fingers crossed!
